Meet Stephen Young, IABC member since 1998:
Stephen is a freelance communicator with 40+ years of professional experience. Through his company, WORDSCRIBE, Stephen writes everything from web content, speeches, advertorials, and PR material to corporate brand pieces, brochures, product launches and much more. Stephen has decades of experience working in marketing communications, advertising, and promotions.
Most recently, Stephen has focused some of his time on playwriting. This June, his history-meets-mystery play is celebrating a special occasion: Canada’s 150th birthday. “Secret at Woodside” will be performed from June 8 – 18, 2017, at the KWMP Arts Centre in Kitchener. Visit the Secret at Woodside page to find out more and purchase tickets.
Clearly a local communications success story and powerhouse, Stephen has been a member of IABC for nearly two decades. He received his designation as an Accredited Business Communicator (ABC) through IABC back in 2000.
IABC has been an integral part of Stephen’s career journey. In the past, Stephen was involved on the IABC Waterloo Board of Directors and has attended various local and international IABC conferences. Through the association, he’s formed numerous professional connections and has gained considerable insight to apply to his work.
“Being part of a professional organization that focuses on practically all types of communication has helped broaden my appreciation for more aspects of the communication process,” explains Stephen.
Stephen is grateful today that he has the ability to pursue modes of communication that allow him to express himself creatively – such as playwriting.
For IABC members or others starting out in their careers, Stephen offers a snippet of advice: “Pursue your passions and believe in your abilities.”
