Reporting to the Manager of Public Affairs & Communications, the Communications Specialist, Special Projects and Digital Communications, will support Cambridge Memorial Hospital’s communication needs for both internal audiences and within the community.

In this dynamic role, you will: 

Support and champion initiatives like “Wellness & Well-being” and “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion,” bringing these essential corporate priorities to life.

  • Craft compelling content across all platforms, from heartwarming interviews with our diverse hospital family to visually striking graphics, videos and photographs, ensuring our voice resonates in every corner of the community.

  • Be a storytelling maestro, guiding our clinical and corporate teams to uncover and articulate impactful narratives, enhancing the visibility and understanding of our mission: Keeping people at the heart of all we do.

  • Ensure the message is consistent and unmistakably CMH, embodying our brand with clarity and creativity across all channels.

  • Navigate the social media landscape with finesse, engaging with our community and managing digital conversations with empathy and insight.

  • Extend your expertise across departments, supporting a wide range of projects and ensuring our communication materials are fresh, informative, and accessible.

  • Forge strong partnerships with the CMH Foundation, volunteers, and regional allies, amplifying our collective impact through united communication efforts.

  • Analyze, synthesize, and translate complex ideas into clear, engaging communication pieces, from infographics to event materials, making health and hospital-related information accessible to all.

  • Offer strategic communications counsel and hands-on support for corporate initiatives, events, and special projects, always with an eye toward fostering community connections.

  • Step into the heart of our clinical and corporate teams, promoting initiatives and celebrating achievements, ensuring every voice is heard and valued.

  • Stand ready to provide media and crisis communications support, maintaining calm and clarity when it matters most.

 Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in communications, public relations, journalism or related field

  • Five (5) years of experience in corporate communications (or comparable equivalent field)

Qualifications

  • Excellent written, listening and presentation skills

  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment while effectively managing multiple competing requests

  • Great attention to detail

  • Positive team player who works collaboratively with all hospital stakeholders

  • Highly motivated with demonstrated success in taking initiative and problem solving

  • Communication planning with clearly articulated strategies, key messages and manageable timelines

  • Maintains professionalism and represents the hospital with diplomacy

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office, Canva, Gimp, Adobe Creative Suite

  • Proficiency with producing graphics, video and photographs

  • Proficiency with publishing to multiple social media platforms at strategically opportune times

  • Experience with SharePoint and Drupal 9,10
